How do you guys find out what job code your H1B/labor was filed under?
My H1b saus 030, but I think the job is a 6 digit number.

As a result, numbers have once again become available to the India Employment Second preference category. At the risk of stating the obvious there was not any spillover this month but there is hope that we may see spillover in future months.

The best we can expect from lou is that he focusses all his anger on illegals and forgets us for the time being till SKIL gets passed.

this is not the new trend, back in year 2000 to 2003 , when massive layoffs were going on , it has been prevelant since then. Also if this illegal , how about people who got laid off in those years and never went bak home sitting on bench for a year, if you start to fish around, you will find lots and lots of people

One immigration business shop says that visas are being wasted and that's our proof. We are now ready to list the reasons why visa numbers are being wasted. Not only the visas have been wasted but according to you the reason for wastage are -
1.) Inefficiency
2.) Directive from the administration
But before that, can anybody prove conclusively that visa numbers were wasted. What is the proof? Just because my application is pending doesn't mean that USCIS is wasting green card numbers. Give us all proof that visa numbers are being wasted. Where is the proof. Around 20 days back I wrote an email to the immigration business shop asking for proof of waste of visa numbers. No response.

Same thing happened to me, was driving on Adirondocks and there was a border post 100 miles well within the border. The border security agents asked us for passports and we did not have , all we had was our driver lisences and they did not want to accept it. They took us aside and we waited for 15 min, they verified us in their system and for some reason my info was old whereas my wife's was latest , then they asked me who my employer is and searched and found my latest info, they gave me a printout of the law that states that all non US citizens must carry passports and immigration documents all times and if we don't do it, we can be sentenced to jail or a $100 fine.

Well, I do have a vested interest in maintaining status quo, at least with regard to the per country caps. :)
But, working in one of the Valley companies, I see a lot of people from India and China who just don't mix with rest of the people, say, from Poland or Germany or France or Iran. US (the whole government, including USCIS) likes the idea of 'Melting pot' when it comes to immigration. When you melt a lot of metals with each other, you don't end up with a fragmented alloy, since you've capped the amount of each metal in your pot. That is how you get 'Little Italy's and 'China Town's and the latest one in San Jose, CA: 'Saigon Business district'

If you remember that I had pledged $1000 in last 20$ campaign and you guys could only shell out $500 out of me...which means that I still have a block of $500 which was not spent for IV in the past. Here is my next pledge :

You are absolutely right about rippling effect. I personally know someone, yet to graduate, yet to get OPT also, but got trained in ETL/Datawarehousing before graduation, got a job thr' desi shop as a H1 consultant with 6 years experience. I was really shocked to see the level to which people can lie. I am sure their lies won't stand in critical work situations when REAL exp. is warrented. But the damage is already done.

Why would this website suddently decide to convert to a paid website? There is a link right on the top requesting funds / contributions, right? People who have resources / are willing to contribute will do it. Look at the postings of the core members who actually started this website. Did they ever make a harsh statement regarding the site visitors who have not contributed? Personally I havn't seen one yet, have you? They are very diplomatic in their efforts and thats what makes them leaders. We dont want juveniles to start dictating regulations in this forum. Lets leave these decisions to mature people who have insight in their decisions, OK. Actions taken when you are emotionally disturbed will do nothing but harm you and the rest of us. This site is and should remain a non paid. I have contributed a small amount sofar, however have found a very pleasant and enjoyable community here at the IV. I know many have contributed much more than me. Please remember that this website / core group efforts all began probably as a selfless act by a group of youngsters to benefit our legal immigrant community. Let not our emotions guide us but let reason guide us in our decisions and the best approach would be to let the core group decide. Now if they decide sternly that this can be run only as long as all the visitors/beneficieries contribute then I dont know what to say. Contributions were all voluntary and should remain voluntary. Some of those who support a paid website seem to be VERY AGITATED. If you are agitated while spending money then think twice before contributing. Dont expect everybody to do do exactly what you do.

No one questioned the intentions of core members or people who started the website. I personally, (who has been vocal on the thread) am not agitated that I am paying and xyz is not paying. People do not see a need to pay for IV because they are getting what they want. Every one on their heart of hearts know what kind of platform we have built here and without $$ it all means nothing. An hour before I spoke with a NPR news reporter and she asked me if I were calling on behalf of IV as soon as I explained the VB fiasco. I was one of the marshalls, reached Los Angeles like an hour ago. The rally was a huge success, but not upto the expectations from the locals. There is no doubt there is more participation from CA members in both days 17, & 18th and I am not sure what stopped locals attending the rally when they have excellent commuting options to the monument and the capitol area unlike the west coast where we're forced to drive.
I am sure that the local chapter leaders such as Arun, Sukhvinder, Sivakanth, & others put a lot of time, effort, & money into getting the permits from different authorities, display matertials prepared and delivered on time, and other logistics.
At the same time, having 6 weeks time for the rally, I think the local chapters in DC, VA, MD, & DE should have taken a bigger initiative in conducting chapter meetings to improve the participation, and volunteer efforts in receiving people from the airports and/or providing accommodations.
I spoke to one person from CA who came with all the checks written with the names & amounts in advance, and handing them over to the respective members who sponsered others for the rally.
Thanks to all who made the rally a big success.
I do support in changing the organization name to "Legal Immigration Voice" immediately.
I will be writing more in the morning,

What ever stopped the people in MA/NY/NJ to board the buses stopped the people in DC/VA/MD to get on to the Metro train and come to the rally. Its not the distance, as it may seem to you and me, But Its the lack of will, lack of commitment.
If people think about San Jose rally and think it was a huge success, people showed up in 2 days yada yada.., there is a diff reason. Does it even need to be mentioned?

The final 6 days, our active members had stood out at every place they could and distributed flyers to 3000-3500 people. All the six weeks they have been doing spreading the word.

USCIS cannot do anything on the matter. INA is clear on the AOS conditions, one of which is "An immigrant visa is IMMEDIATELY available at time of filing for adjustment of status" (INA 245, 8 USC 1225)

Do you only do what IV support ? Did I say anywhere I want IV o endorse it ? Didn't we have these discussions over and over before? and the admins telling us to stop because IV goals are set and will not change?
