It is a difficult scenario. Chances are that it would be very difficult for your mom to ever prectice in US (not to discourage, but tell you the fact).
first one has to pass USMLE step 1, Step 2 (CK and CS) and get ECFMG certification (info at ECFMG� | Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (http://www.ecfmg.org))
Then apply for residency and get into the residency (which is extremely competitive, requires high USMLE scores and reference letters and if you are old grade, many programs do not consider you).
Then Do the three/four year residency and pass USMLE step 3, get the license.
Absolutely no way to practice medicine unless she goes through above path (experience and training in india does not matter; only thing that will matter is her MBBS (if from regonized college there) which will allow her to sit for USMLE).
Many doctors in your mom's situation come here and do some paramedical job (phelbotomist, physical therapist etc).

Either it is all a big mystery or a conspiracy. I agree with you that there can't be so many people from EB3-ROW from 2002 still waiting for their GC . Same with India and China. They are still sitting at 1st May 2001. I wonder how many people filed in 2001 that even after 10 years USCIS is still processing their cases.
There is something going on behind the scenes and breaking ( or bending of the rules ). They could easily have prevented visa wastage all these years so the backlog could be reduced but do they ? Who's preventing them from using up all the visas and doing what is best for the applicants .

Actually it completely depends on the attorney. I know a couple of people in my company who changed employers and used the old attorney to file AC21 papers for them! and it is a big employer and a big attorney firm !
you should use another attorney. How can you go to your employer's attonery(even though he represents you) and ask about taking another job?. Its same as asking your employer.:eek:

I think your attorney and HR are winking at each other. Looks like this is a cheapo lawyer. Tell them that you will file H1 extension only if they apply I-140 by premium or else you will go back to India. If you are in consulting and a revenue generating employee this is the best approach. Your employer will be a FOOL not to take you seriously. Also give them a few examples of people who got 3 year extension and ask why not for you?

Very Interesting set of links. We need to respond to each of these journalists thanking for any positive coverage but also highlighting the specific issues that is causign the backlog (7% per country limit and lack of visa recapture). We need to request that attention be paid to this aspect and how removal of per-country limit is neccessary to eliminate the greencard backlogs (and that visa recapture will at least provide limited relief). Most of such articles praise high-skilled immigrants but do not get to the root of the issue and the possible solutions. We need some folks to help with this IV media outreach. One thing is that lawyers are really busy till August 17th.
One good reason for this policy is the misuse or over-utilization of lawyer contact previlege. I believe there might be guys who contact lawyers for no reason, and just annoy them. If there are so many such guys in your company, may be all they are trying to avoid is this misuse.
On the other hand Lawyer is representing you and the employer at the same time. So you are entitled to contact lawyer directly. It is just that, if there had been misuse from other employees, there is a possibility that you might not have enough credability, and they may not return your call.
There is no harm in trying to send an email to you HR and ask them to get an answer from lawfirm for any valid query.
But, the problem is, they dont allow us to have a direct correspondence with lawyer. They are saying that its their company policy.
I'm really worried right now. Can I still call our lawyer? Sorry guys.
