Here. I always like the home cloud concept, where you get your own personal server and can transfer data/sync through the cloud. So you own your data instead of trusting it to someone else.

Yeah...but doesn't Retrospect (http://www.dantz.com/en/products/mac_desktop/index.dtml) do the same thing but better?For $100, you'd expect so. This is a thread about free tools and SilverKeeper is one of them.

I've been a member of these forums for a long time now, and I really like it here, I've learnt a lot and had a lot of fun too. But, to move to the next level and actually become part of the MR team it is obvious to any idiot (even me!) that some of my old habits have to die, and I do need to be able to account for my actions. So yes, my posting may have changed slightly, but without that change my name wouldn't be in this list now, and I wouldn't be able to wasteland that spam!! :D

I think you either read the statistical trend wrong or perhaps read a twisted version of it from some "Christian blog" of some sort.
What's really happening is that the birth rate is "diminishing"...not "reversing". The trend throughout ALL 1st world and emerging economies is that the birth rate per person reduces. There are several factors for this including the fact that modernized civilizations do not need to have that many babies in hopes that a few will survive disease, famine, hardship, etc. And the few babies that do get born are brought up to be "more powerful humans" so to speak...in a sense that they are nurtured more and given more attention and education, etc. What happens is that the average "modernized person" can supply like multiple X more economic productivity than your average 3rd worlder. In addition, many more of those 3rd worlders will die before they have "fulfilled their usefulness" to society ... or perhaps even reproduce.
Think of it this way. If a person with a degree in industrial engineering can make a machine that spits out 10,000 donuts per day...how many "villagers" will it take to make an equivalent amount of food?

Coming from an Apple / Mac Fan and non iPhone or iPodTouch kind of Guy & Girl, I sure Hope Apple keeps Sharp on Macs... I was at my 1st and 5th Grader's Parent - Teacher Conference at Chautauqua Lake Central School on 11/18/10 and there were 3 or 4 Macs in each Home Room... I got to believe Steve knows that if they get the Kids Hooked on Apple that they'll be an Apple Buyer for iLife.... We are also ProSumer kind of FCP people and Love our Mac versus the Windows world... Get Your Kids Hooked on iKidsFishing and not on Drugs leads to an Apple a Day keeps the Doctor away... Get it...? hello,
my nano 2g recently did started doing something strange.
the buttons work properly when i press them. I can click, turn the ipod on and off, but the touch wheel function does not work at all. if I slide my thumb, no result shows on the ipod.
troubleshooting actions taken: I reset the ipod, downloaded a new version if itunes, and restored to factory settings.
no applecare at this point. I am willing to replace parts myself if need be.
any info on similar problems is helpful

Your out of luck. Under no circumstances will Apple EVER replace a product with another one that is not exactly the same! Period!
What i'm wondering about is when we will get an announcement about it.
If the launch is Wednesday they are leaving it incredibly late!

There's been reports of battery issues to. I haven't tested it myself, but it seems like I'm getting less battery life since 4.3.1, which is what many others have been saying. I don't know how widespread this isssue is, though.
I would say my battery life is worse as well, and I would not see why this would not be affecting everyone running 4.3.1. So I am looking forward to the update.

Yeah I'm running 6.34/a5. If it happens again then I will definitely look into it deeper, but I think it may have been just bad luck.
